Washing Instructions for Hoodies and T-Shirts
Follow these steps every time you wash your Mongols apparel. They work for both hoodies and tees.
Turn Inside Out
This is the single most important step for preserving screen prints and fabric color. Turning the garment inside out protects the front design from the tumbling action and friction against other clothes. It also helps prevent color bleeding.
Use Cold Water
Hot water is the enemy of deep colors and elastic fibers. Cold water (60°F - 80°F) removes dirt just as effectively without causing shrinkage or fading. The polyester in the blend can handle cold water without losing its shape.
Choose a Gentle Cycle
Set your machine to the “delicate” or “gentle” cycle. This reduces the agitation speed and wash time. A typical gentle cycle is about 15 minutes shorter than a regular one, which means less wear on the fabric.
Use a Mild Detergent
Avoid bleach, fabric softener, and harsh stain removers. Bleach can eat through the print and weaken the cotton fibers over time. Fabric softener coats the polyester fibers, making them less breathable. I recommend a liquid detergent labeled “free and clear” - it’s gentle and leaves no residue.
What Not to Do With Stains
Don’t rub or scrub the stain directly on the print side. Instead, blot with a damp cloth and apply a tiny drop of mild detergent directly to the stain. Let it sit for 5 minutes, then rinse with cold water before the full wash.
